This year has been a bit of a disaster. I left a boring part time college course, and only managed to work half of my 6 day (christmas) contract with Marks and Spencer's due to transport problems.

Fortunately, I got a new job with Edexcel after having been on Jobseekers allowance for 3 months. They have a warehouse here where all their exam papers are sent for scanning into the computer system and they recruit loads of temporary staff over a few months.

I will only be there for a month, but the work was easy to get - I just left my name and number on the recruitment hotline, they called me back just over a week later and invited me in for an interview/assessment which was just more of a chat than a formal interview. Then got a letter offering me a job. I start on the 1st of June and finish on the 25th June.

So, if anyone here is doing an Edexcel GCSE or A Level this year, I might be the one who processes it.

I'm quite looking forward to it. The place is only down the road and it seems like quite a good place to work. The 'Human Resources' lady said she thinks I will like working there. I expect it will be noisy and busy, but I doubt that will be a problem as long as I know what I'm doing.

The only problem I have had is getting very anxious about it. Partly down to the fact that I am having to wait quite a long time till I start. When I am stuck at home on my own all day it is very easy to think about things too much. I think I'll be OK though. I'm soon going to go to the shops and get some new shirts and trousers to wear, and treat myself to a cup of coffee :).

I start in an hour and a half. I'm really nervous.

Probably no need to be, as lots of other new people will be starting as well. But I have hardly done anything for a whole year, so I got a bit used to staying at home all the time.

Fortunately I managed to get a good nights sleep and woke up naturally at 4am.
