I know you can't work manual labor forever, but those office jobs where everything's political and you have to use your brain just drain me. Sales, cubicles, suits and ties, phone calls, memos, desks, water cooler chat, margins and profits.... UGGGHHH.

I like working with my hands.

I know exactly what you mean. I chose a warehouse job over an office job that pays almost twice as much because Id rather be moving around on my feet working my muscles. Granted I still do some PC repair/Consultations on the side for a bit extra spending money on top of the already 35k a year I am earning currently. (45K+ if I accept every overtime opportunity)

Even at a lower salary, I find that if I enjoy what I'm doing, I somehow make more money in the long run anyway. I actually work much harder and faster when I'm happy. Even if I know I make more per hour, if I'm bored, I hate the job.

I find office job quite scary too.
But would prefer a data entry job since it involves very less communication
and just manually operating and doing the work
Other jobs like office automation and social interaction would be too pressurising for me.

I work in an office job, I would just like to say it sucks yes but I'm not a good fit for my job. As for what you say above using your brain is a good thing... I think you meant to say using your brain for nothing is what drives you crazy, you know all of the office politic stuff is using your brain for nothing. Office politics are truly stupid... your going to start fights with people over your cushy, high paying job, that requires you to essentially sit on your ass all day... It's incredible.

I'd like to get an office job actually, but never seem to get callbacks for them. Ideally, I'd like to do data entry and not interact with people :)

I'm really bad at working with my hands, so that's not much of an option for me unless it's something really simple like loading/unloading boxes.

Amen. One of the most boring jobs I've had was also the best paying. I couldn't just take the money, I had to leave and look for something more.

A job search agent just called me back, and all she had available was financial positions that required experience. I explained that I would like a solitary position, but most everything that comes through an agency like that are team-work based.
I'm a little gun shy about working directly with people because of prior experiences I've had. The last thing I need is failure, and that's what I set myself up for if take a position in a nasty, NT-filled gossip house.

I did one of my college co-ops on a tech helpdesk, and I quite liked it. As much as I don't like humans, if I don't actually have to look at them I'm usually fine.

But yeah, I'd get kind of uncomfortable when the other employees were talking about office politics and the like. :/
