I voted sort of because I worked at the shack putting papers together for The Orgonion every Sunday for a few weeks and then my boyfriend told me the boss was laying off extra people and then a few weeks later, he tells me no one got laid off and I asked him then why did I get laid off then and he said his boss thought I was too slow. So I was probably fired but it wasn't a real job anyway because I was just working there until I got a job for real.

I have never been fired. My first job was with the school district installing network cables. It has been a full two years since I last worked for them, but as of last week, I found out that I am still on the payroll! I lost one job as an editor when the company tanked, and my other job is seasonal work.

Constantly. I had 9-5 office jobs, couldn't fake it that long in such small spaces. Thank heaven I'm retired.

LOL - I got "fired" so the company could rehire me in a position with a higher salary and better job security. At first I was really disappointed and then, when I realized how much MORE I would be making, I was pretty pleased.

Never fired, although I've had a few jobs where people were definitely relieved to see me go.

I've left only one job, and that was with immediate effect because I woke up one morning and fely utterly paralysed and unable to go in any more.

My current job I actually need to get fired from, because it's so unsuitable for me and I need to be unemployed so I can go on a training course to get a better job.

I was "laid off" from a job after less than a week, when I commented to my discombobulated boss that she was "on drugs",refering to the cold medicine she was taking.I didn't know she was also battling a drug habit.

Not quite - I resigned from my first job -in a bank - a week before I was due to be sacked. The manager kindly forewarned me and I thought being sacked would not be the best start to my working life. "Although intelligent Mr W has found it difficult to change from academe to the working environment" he said. He was right, I never have.

i've been fired more times than id like to admit. and i've only been in the workforce (professional workforce) for about 5 years. i have traveled since university but i have also been unemployed the same amount of time i have been employed.

and that is one thing that really made me wonder about what was going on with me socially.
i can only do well by myself, i am extremely independent when it comes to work and controlling, i know it. thats why received a bba in entrepreneurship and also majored in international business and marketing. i am presentable, can communicate decently (i thought), usually am with the top of my colleagues when i am employed and then something happens.
not to say i do not enjoy learning but once i feel i have mastered something i want my freedom to work as i please.
i like opinions, i dont need orders. direction is fine, but forcing me to do something a certain way will never work with me.
i worked for one guy that wanted to tell me how to do EVERYTHING, if i faxed- i had to watch the fax go through, piece by piece, to make sure it went through because we couldn't trust the confirmation. (even 25+ page real estate documents/contracts.) then after a fax, i had to scan doc perfectly into computer, put it in proper folder labeled exactly right, then file the original in the file cabinet and add to the "log" that i had put another piece of paper in the file cabinet. and of course sign and date. it was stupid because i was exec ass. to the ceo and the only other person was the secretary. this is one small example.
i wouldn't, couldn't do it his way.
poor guy ended up in some martial arts program to relieve stress, started acupuncture and anger management when we worked together.

I've been fired before. I went into a graduate position after uni and I don't think the lady responsible for training me was happy that I was hired (I don't think I fit her gender expectation very well - too nerdy and not girly enough for her, she didn't like me from the start), so she would give me things to do that I had never seen before, and yell at me if I asked questions about it. So of course I did things wrong.

I lasted about 2 weeks there before being fired, because I "wasn't what they expected"! I am now in an entry level position in another industry, even though it frustrates the hell out of me, because I am too intimidated to go for the type of job I am qualified for!

Yeah I have been "fired" from one job due to using the internet too much and other aspie social problems. Got asked to leave another job early coz it "wasn't working out". I am now going to stop trying to do office work and try gardening instead.

I had a job in the school as a library aid, and then i worked as a salesperson at Sears for tools, lawn and garden, and sporting goods. Yeah you can imagine that someone with AS is totally fit to be a salesperson. haha. I was really good a stocking, but I decided to quit before I was fired. I think I would have been fired sooner, if people didn't characterize me as "cute". God I hate that word.

Now I work as a barista at barnes and noble. I don't really see it better socially wise. Before I mostly worked with men, which aren't as "how are you feeling?" or "do you need a hug?" as the girls I work with now. When I saw the girls I work with start hugging each other, it was like the twilight zone. But the upside is that my manager definately won't fire me because she is scared of hurting my feels. haha.

I've never been fired, just laid off after the holiday season when I did retail. I was hired for the season, so I wasn't surprised when at the end, I was given my last paycheck. I later found out that sales were so bad at this store, pretty much all part-time employees were laid off, and only full-time people stayed.

I worked in a factory once, where they made plastic car parts (like bumpers, interior consoles, that kinda stuff). I SUCKED at it!! ! My job was to trip off the excess plastic from the pieces as they came out of the mould (mold?). One thing I learned about factory work is that meticulousness is not a useful trait, but the ability to shut off your mind is.

I had a temp job at a local museum, but I knew going in it was only for 3 months, so no suprise when it ended. It was a suprise, however, when the ladies there actually dipped into the donation funds to keep me on for an extra two weeks. Granted, it was kinda my fault they had to do that, as I'd never taken any days off, and the last couple weeks they really needed me there to help set up for an art show we were hosting, and then to put everything back to normal afterwards.

My current job will be hitting the 2 year mark soon. I'll admit to not being as good an employee on this one, but so far, even half-assing it I've stood head and sholders above anyone who might try to replace me. It helps that they've been either incompitent, stupid, or just plain decided to stop coming into work without warning or explaination.
