Does anyone here work in this field? Or has anyone had experience with speech and language therapy?

I am considering the possibility of going into this field, but am wondering if it might not be well-suited for a person who has had her own communication issues. Do you think it would be impossible to be a good speech and language pathologist as an Aspie? On the other hand, I have come a long way with my own communication difficulties, and think that this might better help me to help others in this area--particularly autistic individuals.

At this point, it is merely something I am looking into, but I thought perhaps someone here might be able to offer some thoughts.

I have no expertise or knowledge in this field, but I can easily imagine how good and how encouraging it could be for a client to be offered help from someone who has already overcome some similar problems himself or herself. If you have the desire and the potential and nothing great is presently blocking your way, I would say you ought to go give it all your very best shot!
