well, kinda.
Im working in a SEN school as a LSA, working with children with autism, aspergers and adhd!
since i failed school and college, i thought about helping other kids NOT to fail at life, since i have been through it myself!
It gives me happys! :D
Maybe im not a failure!
Although talking to the other teachers is a struggle...i end up staring at there feet as i shake there hands.....but the kids..or teens...im great with! is that werid?

Good for you! How did you get into that, seeing as you failed school by your own admission?

Being a teacher isn't about knowing how to excel in school, it's about being able to relate to the kids and to give them the right kind of encouragement.

This is especially true if the kids OP are working with are in elementary school.

exactly. i got into it because i have grown up with adhd and autism and that is something you cannot learn in college! i see all this as my A+ you know? And when the teachers ask me questions that there uni graduate cant answer, i do feel rather smug! :)

I've looked at learning support positions before, and it seems that you need at least some qualifications.

Hi - sounds great:)

I'm studying to be a teacher now and I really want to work in special ed somehow. basically have the same motivation as you - I dropped out of school and every course I've ever attempted too and don't want others to have to go through what I went through. I recently found a way to study online and it makes studying possible for me now - well so far all's good - just hope I'll be able to get a job out of it.

Congratulations Poppy-lou!

It is not weird--it is well known that Aspies can focus on special interest activities to the exclusion of social discomfort.
