What a load of crap

the most successful business people I know are also the most ruthless.

The ones who don't bat an eyelid at sacking a third of their staff just before christmas, or fobbing off any customer who complains.

It's standard practice at banks, insurance companies and supermarkets to go with what makes the most profit, not what the customer wants or is in their best interest.

I was too nice to customers. I'm sure after I quit my job profits skyrocketed
there. I tried to find the most economic way for the customer. wobbegong

Sure, ruthlessness goes a long way, but if you are just starting a career, outright backstabbing will get you nowhere. While you're climbing to the top, soft skills will help a lot. You'll seem like everybody's best friend while you're stabbing them in the back.
