I used to work with some people who play online poker, and that definitely seemed to keep them entertained ... but since you have posted here in the "Work and finding a Job" forum, I would emphasize their "for entertainment only" caution.

Not sure if you are in the US but the major online sites don't allow US players anymore since the FBI arrested execs from some of the big name sites a few weeks ago.

I believe there was - maybe still is - a pro poker player in here by the name of vibratetogether.
I knew someone (NT) who tried it for a while, before moving on to blackjack (it's quicker, plus new sites give you welcome bonuses) and finally on to sports betting, before packing it in.
I'm sure some people do well out of it, but be careful.

If you think you are that good, then all you should ever need to put into it is an initial amount of money. If you're good you should never need to top-up your account, only withdraw winnings. Problems come when you keep sticking the money in and getting nothing back. Remember it can seem easy on freeplay sites, but the dynamics of playing for actual money where the losses are concrete is very different. People will go all in when their own money is not at stake, making it far easier to sucker people into bets and do well on a free site. It is effectively gambling and is a game of chance. Granted you have a better chance of winning if you have a mathematical mind and can work out the probability of success for each hand and the chances someone else has something better - than a fish does. Generally the biggest winner in online poker is the online casino!
