My job right now is to find out about a patient's medical complaint and compile it for a PA. I personally hate my job, when people come in for trivial problems (stuff you wouldn't see me in a clinic for), I still have to act as though it's a legitimate concern. Then in some instances, I just can't read people at all. Under the set-up I have, the PA will talk to the patient for a fraction of the time I will, but they'll be expected to identify the cause of the patient's problem and have a solution in that time. Granted they get training for what they do, but you'll actually have to be mindful of what you're doing (paying attention to each patient, knowing what to examine to support which diagnosis, all while seeming friendly and professional), I avoid small-tak with patient's like it's the plague (reassuring them is impossible), the PA is expected to come across as more reassuring.
Seeing 10-20 patients a day can be draining, but whether or not you could handle it is up to you.
