Job search has hit a plateau
I have been out of school for a year now and I have been struggling to find work that corresponds with my interests. I have some very specific job goals, but I am starting to realize that it may take years for those goals to become reality.
My parents want me sign up with a job agency to help me find work, which I probably should do. However, based on negative experiences in the past, it is not something that I want to do.
Many agencies in Ontario are funded by the ODSP Employment Supports program and there is usually very specific criteria before the agencies get funding. Specifically, clients would have to have been working for three months before the agency gets funding for the client. As such, I found that in the past I was pressured to apply for jobs that I did not want and when I didn't comply, I was dropped from the agency.
Hopefully, I will get accepted for income supports, which will help me out financially until I find a job. However, things are currently looking bleak.
