Specifically business management consultants. The way I look at it is consultants are brought in to a company to say the things the grunts are afraid to say to their managers or company. Is telling the client the absolute ruthless truth about their business processes and business models to the tune of $400 an hour a viable business?

In my experience, people in general don't like to hear the unvarnished truth. You will have to say it with some finesse for them to absorb it and for you to get referrals as a consultant. If you can present your analysis well, and help them know what to do about it, it's a viable business.

It's obviously "viable" since there are more consultants nowadays than ever before...
