A few weeks prior to getting the job I have now, my car died. Oh well, so I rode my bike 4.5 miles in the Vegas summer every day. Then last Sunday, my tire went flat. I am not going to walk that far in 106º weather. I don't want to die. So I ask my boss for a ride until I can get my first check. He agrees. Monday and Tuesday went fine. Today, I waited by the street as I had been, and the time he was to pick me up came and went. I ask him what happened and he says he forgot. HOW DO YOU FORGET TO PICK UP THE GUY WHO SITS NEXT TO YOU!?!?!?!?!? I hate my job. No point to this post, just needed to rant.

you can walk that far if you really want to. i can do it even in the right foot wear, or every now and then in the wrong foot wear.

Normally I would completely agree. The issue I have is not with the distance, it's doing it in the Vegas summer. The 3 hours it would take me to make the journey is more than enough time for severe heat stroke to set in. Especially when the route has very little shade, and most days this time of year there's not a cloud in the sky.
