Job Centrer problems
I have been going to the job Centre for about more then a year with no susses in finding the job I want and to be a sfx artist in film and TV or jobs evolving first aid even thought I do a part time job for Wembley and seeing Seetec a group that meant to help people with disability's find work and I have been seeing them for about two months with little susses.
As I been seeing them I have been logging the meeting in my job seekers book but my adviser tells me that I can't just put Seetec meeting all the time as she tells me that a I need to put the company's we looked at but the little box I have to put in all the information is too small.
I asked if they could ask for my file to look for them self's after all they have to check I'm going to this place there should be nothing wrong in them looking at my file right? Not in the mind of my adviser.
Next came the fact that she made a new agreement dew to the fact I have been looking for sfx job for too long and need to look for something different. Now this was something that upset me as I want to work in tv and film all my life and now I have to look for shelf stacker because I gave my cv to a company that opening a shop up the road from my door only to do that to get off Job seekers till I find a job in the tv and film.
I'm getting more and more discussed that government are hole people like me a gun point to do job that we don't want to do or can't do dew are disability's and that the fact that job seekers disability advisers do not take care in every costumers need's.
It like they never even header of the Don't write me off bill that stops this sort of thing?
What do you think about this as I am almost at a loss here and think there need to be more done between the following
1 if the job centre know you have a disability then they should now what the disability is and think of jobs around that before and after meeting with the costumer.
2 the job centre should not push job on to people that conflict with some disability's.
3 if the job centre put a person on a government funded courses or program then they should check the activities rather then just look to see if there going there and that it.
4 the government should doing more to looking to the job centre it self as it the one at fault for not working more closer to the public and people with disability's.

http://www.autism.org.uk/signpost.aspx <-- give this a try maybe the job centre is not a good idea.
The idea is to get people into (some form of) paid work quickly. If job-seekers were allowed to only look for jobs in specialist fields they may be able to remain unemployed indefinitely.
Having a large (unexplained) gap in your CV can be a turn off to prospective employers.
Given that disabilities affect everybody differently (autism is a fairly wide spectrum) the disabled person needs to work out their strengths and weaknesses in order to find a suitable job.
Film and TV is a highly competitive industry, especially if you want to get paid for your work. I know many semi-professional film makers, and actors, who have other employment in order to cover their living expenses.
Most people don't get their dream job, instead they regard the job as necessary to get money. When not working they are then free to pursue their hobbies.
Most creative industry employers would want to see your portfolio/ showreel. That is something that you will need to develop in your free time so that you can impress future employers.
Unfortunately the industry you are interested in is not just very competitive but it would also seem very "social" based. The people who get the jobs are those that know the right people (word of mouth recommendations) from what I can see (both my brother and his partner have degrees in creative subjects and both are working at the moment in supermarkets) which is the way it works in a number of industries. As the previous poster mentioned you need to get a portfolio sorted out to show them what you can do. However, as someone once said to me "any job is better than no job". Very few people in the world are doing exactly what they want to be doing, and any employer at all but the very bottom level is going to want to see some sort of previous employment. Unfortunately you have to start at the bottom and work your way up (ideally building your portfolio as you go).
For the record I always wanted to work in either IT and software in particular, or the travel trade. I took a part-time job in a supermarket to help me through tech and ended up leaving college and going full time in the supermarket which a year or so previously I would never of dreamed of. I have been a Supervisor in a very busy supermarket operated by one of the worlds largest retailers, and currently work for a different retailer (also the biggest worldwide in their field) also in a supervisory capacity - both with undiagnosed Aspergers. How did I get there? I started at the bottom pushing trolleys, emptying bins, and cleaning toilets in a job I hated but kept my head down and kept going.
I now have a diagnosis and have realised why I have found it so hard at times. Unfortunately the reality is that we live in an NT world and so we have to play on their terms. Obviously I dont know your history (or even your age) but a good step would be to do some sort of course in the field you would like to work in (I assume you have not done this as you have not mentioned it). Being unemployed you should also qualify for a discounted rate - even then you can probably do a course at the open University for free (even though I am in full-time employment I recieve a grant to cover the fees of my degree and this is pre-diagnosis) which would also give you something else to point to when an opportunity does arise. By doing a course in the field (and applying yourself to it) you will start to build up the all important network of contacts.
Everybody has a dream but getting there is never easy - else it wouldnt be a dream!
