you might try having a social services agency refer you to goodwill.

How about a trade, like mechanics, building, painting, and so on. There are many trades, some more general and some very specialised.

A high school diploma is often fine to get into trades, and the work is task-based rather than people-based.

If you like working with your hands, trades are ideal.

If you don't want to return to study, then a trade can be a good option because the learning is on-the-job.

good luck.

Teach yourself cabinet making or pottery or jewelry... then do specialty orders from home.

Your little description of yourself sounds alot like myself... I hate cooking and food service with a passion... yet i work in a pizza shop/resturant  i dont really like it...

Im trying for a mechanic apprenteship as i prefer practical work... i like cars and my dad was a mechanic... he thinks i have a natural talent for mechanical kinda things...
What do you like to do as a hobby? then maybe find working making or maintaining something that involves your hobby?

sorry, i didn' t mean to offend. i only mentioned goodwill because of my experience with them, there were people with schizophrenia i worked with, who were placed with jobs they could live with. it is an employment agency for people with various issues, that have troubles in the NT job market.

auntblabby, is this a service that exists in the US, & if so, any suggestions regarding how to access it? I'm on disability but I feel that I can't afford to keep going on this way, without at least a little more income.

For the last few years I've been trying to put together some kind of work at home. I have lots of skills and experience, and theoretically, could go about it several different ways.... but I've been having difficulty keeping the business side of things together. It's been hard to keep anything together, for that matter.

yes, it is all over america, though i don't have in front of me the exact cities. it is usually accessed via your state department of vocational rehabilitation visavis DSHS. i was a client 30 years ago.
