I have received criticism that I need to improve in certain areas before at work but for the first time I was given an overall poor review. It came as a shock. In the 11 months I was under the manager before this he mentioned exactly one thing I needed to improve on and at the time said it was a small thing... I was perceived as 'surfing the net' too much. I did not agree but I did cut down on the surfing I was doing and checked back in with him where he said all was well.

Then my review. We did a 360 degree review. In my 360 I averaged between 2 and 3 among the respondents (1 being the highest; 5 the lowest). For some reason, yet to be explained, that was all ignored. Instead I received his review. I was dinged on :

Motivation (a first)
Professional behavior (for the most part a first)
Problem Solving (a first)
Participation in meetings (we are an Agile house; you have to participate in meetings)
Keeping him informed of progress (we meet daily)

Additionally there was no Knowledge or Skills sections of the review and only some of the items could be described as Abilities. Most of the review deals with behavior.

Here is the kicker... I am a developer. I program. While behavior is important, programming is more about knowledge, skill and ability than anything else.

So I am fighting the review. I am not concerned with the outcome but with pushing back. I took a few days off to prepare myself and materials. I will point out the lack of sections dealing with knowledge and skills. I will point out the lack of feedback for the time period involved. I will point out the contradictory input on my 360.

I work in Arizona which is not exactly employee friendly. In fact I expect that this will wind up with me not working there any longer but that is not the point.

Any advice, feedback or criticism will be read and likely responded to.

If autistics are such sociopaths and their abilities count for nothing then why not include your needs as part of the performance evaluation? If you are then fired because your company cares nothing about the needs of their employes then who is the sociopath?
