I was just wondering what kind of jobs everybody has here. I'm just curious because I know some jobs can be tough to work at if you're an aspie or if you have any social phobia or disability. Right now I run a home daycare but I'm going back to college in September for Library and Information Tech. I'm really anxious about going back to school because it's been a few years and I'm older now but I'm excited at the same time.

I'm an Online Marketing Executive - therefore dealing with a companys websites and the marketing of them. What's interesting about this role is that its not me doing my normal techy thing or managing a team of technically minded people. Instead I need to fit into a team as one of the team (mainly young woman that I don't have much in common with even more than usual).

Def not doing well at the social side of things - I should really move on as I can earn more being more myself elsewhere - yet I really don't want to give up on fitting in yet.

Would love to blame the others for me not fitting in, but know perfectly well its me! Grrrr!

Good luck going back to School - hope you enjoy it :)

Thanks! Yeah, as much as I love learning about child development the over-stimulation and multi-tasking and being assertive stuff that goes along with caring for children is becoming too much for me. I find that I also don't have certain strong enough emotions to be working with people, not to say that I'm a mean person but sometimes I really have to act at what I'm doing if you know what I mean. Good luck with your job as well, I know how hard it can be working and dealing with different kinds of people. I've also worked in licensed daycare centers in the past and it's very socially draining dealing with co-workers, bosses, ministry inspectors, parents and children all day.

if i were a full-time childcare worker, i would always be totally drained, like i was when i was a camp counselor.

now i am a part-time social worker. i get the benefits of being able to help people (as hopefully will you in your information science job) without the burnout of full-time wall-to-wall people. viva second careers!

I'm a full-time Mum, although my daughter is at school now. Before my daughter was born, I worked in local government admin for 11 years. Although, I have a degree in microbiology (which I left prior to honours year, due to social anxiety) and a post-grad in environmental studies. In all honesty, I hated my job, especially having to supervise a small team, dealing with managers and talking on the phone. I only enjoyed it when I was given projects to work on, e.g. designing databases. Just now, my friend is trying to persuade me to take on some part-time work at the uni, taking lecture notes for disabled students. I'm considering it, but also thinking about getting another qualification via home study.
