what are some good summer job ideas

i personally would love to play guitar regularly at some venue maybe a bar if theyd let me

or maybe be a lifeguard or sell concessions or rent tubes out

- Lawn mowing
- Yard work
- Gardening--your own, and/or for others.
- Run errands/shop for people.
- Clean houses
- Chores for the elderly/disabled.
- Do minor handyman repairs/maintenance.
- Wash cars
- Do minor car repairs/maintenance--if you know about cars.

The jobs above are all self employment jobs, so you get to keep any money above taxes and expenses.

The other jobs you mentioned are also good for the summer. Any resort or amusement park type venue will have summer work. Bear in mind though, that with the economy in the toilet, you will be competing with many out of work adults. Companies are more likely to hire them, as mature adults, with families to support, and bills to pay, tend to be more reliable. Even a summer job is better than no job for unemployed adults, so getting hired for a summer job can be a problem. That's why you may have better luck working for yourself for the summer.
