Would you suggest a job/field I might enjoy?

Strange question to ask strangers, I realize. But I lack focus, and despite spending much thought trying to figure out what I would like to do, I have no idea. I formed a general list of what I would like in a career and what I am interested in now.

Love thinking about complex ideas
Love analyzing and drawing conclusions
Love using logic
Love mysteries and puzzles
Like to be challenged
Must involve creativity in the process(not routine work) but still allow one to come to definite conclusions (not entirely subjective.)
Must involve doing some form of research to form conclusions (see below)
MUST allow for some rule-bending/ not be heavily based on following directions/orders (I tend to fail at this even with my best efforts.)
Preferably suitable for an introvert
Preferably varied work (easily bored/loss of motivation)

Current interests: Forensic science, biology and chemistry, neuroscience, psychology/motive, computers

I would truly appreciate any help.

Honest to gosh, have you thought about medical school? (at least 25 different specialities)
or medical research.

And even being an introvert, the more formalized interaction of dealing with a patient, you might actually do pretty well and enjoy it.

Or maybe law school?

If you're into pain, misery and suffering then become a nurse. Look at me. Nothing but endless days and nights of pain, misery and suffering just to make money to pay the rent. Horrible.

Some possible ideas include:

Biomedical researcher
Neuroscientist
Research scientist (choose a certain area of interest)
Genetic researcher (may require solving puzzles, problems, etc.)

Yes, I have thought about medical school. I didn't think about law school, though.

Being a research scientist also sounds interesting.

Perhaps if I find a specialty area that I am very interested in, I could become either a scientist or medical specialist in it.

On the plus side, a Registered Nurse makes big bucks! My mom did it her whole life and was getting close to a six-figure income by the end of it!

Lawyers, brokers, airline pilots also make big bucks with about half the stress of a nursing career.

Nurses will never be paid enough to deal with the medical system in the US. I've only worked as an aide and was appalled daily about how the most noble of professions employed the most despicable people to care for the well-being of others. (not only that, they often lacked the resources to even help those people, this, in the most expensive medical system in the world! and they run out of everything)

To OP: there is such a thing as a medical technologist, really cool career, if you like to research and work in a lab: Medical Technologist

As always I'm assuming you're in the US, so whatever is the equivalent in your country.

It may take some time for you to get the right role but logistics and warehousing might be good. Lots of problem solving, some physical exercise and it can be varied.

Do you like working around a lot of people, with people at all? Or something solitary? Indoors or outdoors? City or country? What kind of climate do you prefer? I mean, if you're going to pick something, try to look at the whole picture. Where do you want to live and spend your time? Do you want to travel? Do you want a family? If you want to live in Hawaii, check out Hawaii's needs.

Environmental Science is getting quite a bit of attention. If you like Nature, or biology, this might be an area to consider. Global warming is becoming a big business and with everyone being mandated to go green, cities and municipalities are looking under rocks for geologists (har-har), biologists, GIS operators, environmental policy makers, hydrologists, etc... just to meet the new requirements.

Water reclamation is fascinating and becoming huge. Then there's all the conservation and preservation stuff. Saving animals from extinction, educating the public, yada, yada, yada.

And if you like animals more than people; Veterinarians, while they have to go to school a lot longer than MD's, have lower overhead costs, especially malpractice insurance. My vet takes home more than my cousin, who is a World-renowned brain surgeon. My vet is uber-rich.

Archaeology is another quiet, solitary, out of the box endeavor.
