Telling your boss / colleagues?

One of the ladies I volunteer has noted there's something "wrong" with me. Is there a way of saying something (no-one is aware) without it coming across as really negative?

I've mentioned it before in friendly conversation. I mean, don't just throw it out there, but if it comes up, why not?

It's different for me being the boss, but if an employee laughs about me running my hands through my hair or being too focused, I might talk about it lightheartedly. It's fun to talk about all the little neurological quirks we run into every day.

The strangest one was an employee we hired who got lost in a five room building for a half hour. Truth be told, it's probably more difficult to find a true neurotypical. There are lots of parts in your brain to get wired wrong, it just doesn't get diagnosed in most cases!

Don't let it get you down

I spoke to someone at work with experience in mental health and casually brought it up. They proceeded to tell me they strongly suspected I have it and only doubted it because I'm so successful (I wasn't until recently) and used an example of an Aspie trait I had no idea I did (and explained why some would view that as rude). This person also mentioned how they wanted to mention it but it would have been unprofessional to do so. I've also had two co-workers flat out ask me if I have mild autism (they never heard of Asperger's). I'll just tell them the truth: I've never been formally diagnosed but yes. Doesn't really matter because everyone understands my personality, label or not. People in particular really love the fact I 'know everything' and frequent come to me with the unusual question no normal person would know the answer to.
