I am going through the tedious process of finding a job for the summer - and running out of time to get one. But I feel like I am fighting a curse: "I am never considered an option* unless there is no alternative."
*Specifically never accepted

The jobs I have had were because there were no other people applying, or there was more than one position open and they could take 2. And they were low key desk jobs at my school.
I know companies and stuff are not always going to reply, and yes, everyone gets their mountain of rejections. But I do not know if it is because that is the norm or really is me. This does not apply to jobs either - anything that ever required an audition, application, interview, voting, etc. I have always come out smack on the bottom or "close but not what they are looking for"....

Loads of people get rejected. If you are concerned about your interview skills, company research skills, or resume skills, I would take courses on them through your school career center, or arrange for someone there to review them. I find career centers helpful. Personally, I recommend doing this even if you are not concerned, so that you can get a balanced point of view.

I'm always amazed when an individual with ASD manages to be hired for a desk job, even one described as "low key" or non-critical support. Most AS people I know work in some type of assembly job, whether at a dedicated plant or simply mixing and proofing dough at Pizza Hut, irrespective of how many college degrees held.
