the last job i had was in 2011 due to lack of hours so i quit.

and i've been looking for a job non-stop since then. i've had a handful of interviews, but no offers.
i had this one interview where the guy had said he would call me for training the next day or the day after. and he never did. he did call me back for a reference and i gave him my last job as one. and i told him that the assistant manager was still there, but there have been a few different store managers since i left so i don't know if maybe they said something that made the guy not call me back.

i know i am able to have a job, i have the experience and the training that alot of places are looking for, but nobody as called me. i did call this one place back after handing in a bunch of resumes over a course of a couple months, because i really wanted to work there. when i spoke to the manager, he said he wanted to wait for more people to hand in resumes, because he wanted someone with more experience. i said thank you and hung up.

what i dont get is that its a simple store in the mall. a monkey can do to job. :?

i've applied to a hundred places and nobody seems to want to hire me. ive gone thru so many resumes and cover letters. i applied to a crap load of places online.

i can't buy the bills and the money i do have goes towards food and i never go out because i don't have any extra cash to spend.

i am getting really fed up.

What is your skill set? Do you have a college degree? Are you a veteran?

After two years of unemployment, you can't afford to be so picky.

Okay, but what is your skill set, do you have a college degree, and are you a veteran?

Interesting situation... I rarely get to the interview stage, but when I do, I've been told Ive done something wrong without realizing. You could try looking into mock interview coaching, for which Ive been advised to do.

Have you signed up for courses or employment groups through employment centers? I know that I have said this on other threads, but they are good places to go to find job listings, interview tips and resume help. I got help at my local one back when I was living in Ontario. They can be amazing and tell you things that you don't even realize about yourself. Every employment center is different. If one is not as good, try another. I am not recommending job agencies...these are provincially/state/municipally funded centers that exist to help and for which you may already pay taxes.

ive been to employment centres before and they helped me with my resumes, did practice interviews and such. but the problem i find with them is that the job postings that they have are postings i can find on my own, like on craigs list. local papers and other things like that.

I was about to ask a question similar to this lol, pretty much any advice I can give depends on your answer to the first two.

Apply to other stores. Wait a bit before reapplying. Match your skill set to theirs. One tip that I do sometimes is to call, tell them that you saw their ad, that you are interested in the job, and that you have a question or two to ask that is pertinent to the job and shows interest. Like, 'I am really interested in your stock checking job. I am a person who cares about organization... will this be for your sports equipment, or for your shoe department? Will I ever get to work the front too? Thanks!' don't forget to get their name down, and in your cover letter, you can impress them by saying you called.
