Instead of attempting to fit in, attempt to get along. You're never going to be like "them", whoever they are, and you don't need to be.

Adapt. You don't have to love football, but know what your team's score was in the last game.

Adapting works, as does getting along (actually, best case scenario sometimes might be to just get along), but what about finding other people? Are there other people around that are into other things that you're more interested in? There are plenty of people who aren't into sports that may make good companions. In the working world, I've found this to be difficult, but not impossible.
Or maybe find common ground? People have a lot of different interests... A lot of my guy friends love sports and, while I don't mind watching football, I can't be bothered watching anything else or tracking the business side and that's all they talk about! But one of these friends likes video games! Another likes 80's/90's TV shows! I use these commonalities to bond.

I don't like football, when people at my work start talking about it with me I flat out tell them. Sure it garners me a few stares and odd glances, but it has never affected me on the job in the slightest. I just tell them that I'd much rather engage in 4 hours of strenuous physical activity myself, than to sit on my couch eating junk food and watching other people engage in strenuous physical activity for 4 hours.

You aren't required to share any interests with the people you work with, you're just required to have a healthy working relationship. If you don't share any hobbies, then talk about something else, like the job itself or some topic that interests you.

Whenever anybody at work asks me if I like football, I reply, "I used to be mad about football, but I grew out of it when I was 12"

Which is the truth by the way, I used to buy "Score and Roar" every week from the very first issue.

People still like me though as Iam an individual and make them laugh a lot.
