Well, I have started a paper route. I can't help but feel like a bit of a dufus with my cart and my newspaper bag (I'm 43), but the funny thing is, I really enjoy it. It is physically demanding, but I don't have to talk to anyone and can focus on my task.
So I'm hoping to parlay newspaper deliver into mail carrying, which pays a lot better.
Any other newspaper carriers out there?

Ann, I delivered the Albany Democrat-Herald (Oregon) and the Oregon Statesman (Salem, the capital), as a kid--one route in the morning and the other in the afternoon, in the mid-seventies. Though I hated having to get up at five to deliver papers, the worst part of it was trying to collect money out of those people. If you don't have to do that, it's not such a bad job.

I think the subscriptions are all payed in advance, but my paper is free, so it's not an issue. I would hate having to collect money from people!
My first route was a fill-in for 270 papers. Wow was I exhausted after that, but in a good way. lol

Nowt wrong with delivering newspapers. Provided the pay is adequate of course.

I delivered out local free paper for a few weeks a few years back. The pay was pretty crap. I did this at the same time as a 'proper' job though, and I think if I hadn't have had said proper job, the paper delivery would have been more worthwhile.

I often see older people round here delivering newspapers. Quite a few seem to do it whilst walking dogs.

Well the pay could be better, but the experience is good. And I imagine all that walking is quite healthy.
