I started a part time data entry job last month and it seems to be going really well. I'm not sure if I'll be kept on but so far I'm reaching all my targets and getting on well with everyone there. I would recommend this type of work over call centers(which I've done in the past) but am hoping to get a more creative based job in the future as that's what I feel I am more suited.

Good job. I had a chance to interview for a full time - temporary data entry job but I didn't take it because of scheduling problems with the part time job that I have now.

I worked in a data entry job for a while--I think it can be good for some people, depending on your temperament, but for me it got pretty boring doing the same thing over and over. I hope it works out for you, though (at least for the time being)!

I went on a job interview today for a data entry job at Liberator Medical Supply. Even though I'm good at that kind of work, its not something I want to do the rest of my life. I'd much rather do something in social services to get experience for doing social work later on.

Man I'd love to have a job like that! To some it might sound tedious but for me I could just mentally detach myself. Do I need any qualifications?

The OP might like a creative profession but I'm trying to move out of that field. I'm not very artistic and I've had my fill of Mac using hipsters :P

Good and fast typing skills, attention to detail, ability to copy and paste.

I'd guess that there are no qualifications other than being able to type! If you can honestly tell the employer you wouldn't be bored with such a job that would be a huge plus right there, because I'm sure most of people who do it are. They just do it until they can find something better.

I'm not sure if I'd be qualified for this kind of job. I can only type at 50 WPM. I don't think that would be enough.

I got it through an agency and didn't need any qualifications, I don't think typing speed is that important as I'm not that fast either.

I think accuracy and being able to cross check reliably is more relevant for data entry jobs than raw keystroke rate since you don't need to waste time putting right mistakes. I'm not a particularly fast typer either but I generally fly through alphanumeric tests for that reason.
