I was recently let go from two of three medical transcription jobs I had within less than a week. The first one was because my work quality wasn't where they wanted it to be and the other was because I wasn't logging in enough to do the work. Now the only medical transcription job I have left doesn't pay very well at all and I feel like I'm working for nothing!! I think I just bit off more than I could chew.

My question is should I go out and find a regular, steady job or try and find another MT job that is also from home? I really don't want to go through the entire job search process again as going on interviews and working around people make me extremely stressed and anxious. It was also hard enough landing one job! The problem is I feel like my family and my job coach are pressuring me to get a regular job and if I don't give in to their advice, then I'm the one who feels like I let everyone down. Plus, I'm happy doing the medical transcription because its from home and I don't have to worry about dress code, office politics, etc.

If you feel another MT job is for you then go for it. You can always consider a 'regular' job if you can't find one or it doesn't work well. It is hard when others pressure you, but its having the courage to understand what is right for yourself.

Thing is, I don't know that I'm capable of handling a regular job because of my AS and anxiety. I just feel like it gets in the way of almost everything.

Are your family/coach actually pressuring you, or do you just feel that way?

I'm not sure. I think its just how I feel. I feel like I would be a disappointment to them if I decided to stick with a job that hardly pays anything.
