Specialisterne, the IT recruitment agency specialising in finding jobs for people with AS, opened offices in Northern Ireland a few weeks ago. I had an informal discussion with them today, which seemed to go ok. They said they'd email me, but I'm justing wondering if anyone knew how long it would take? If anyone has used them, what was your experience?

I'm sure you'll get the mail soon. And if you haven't gotten it within a few days, you can send them a friendly mail to remind them.

I haven't heard about this recruitment company. It sounds very interesting. I do hope they get in touch with you soon, I think they can be really helpful in getting you a job

The best thing to do would be to follow up with them.

I emailed asking a couple of questions I wasn't sure on.

They have assessment days, where they test your abilities by getting you to build and programme Lego robots.

I wasn't clear on whether they invite everyone to take part in their assessment days, or if only certain people were chosen based on their application/informal discussion.

I also asked what they actually do with our assessments. Do they get passed on to potential employers or do they just use it themselves to determine the types of jobs we might be suited.

I'll leave it for 2 weeks before contacting them again if I don't hear from them.

I'm surprised more here haven't heard of them. They originally started in Denmark but they've opened offices all over the world (UK, Ireland, US, etc...).

Right, they got in touch and it turns out they're waiting on confirmation from a software trainer academy that they would accept my 2-years at university instead of an HND (Higher National Diploma - roughly equivalent to 2-years of a 3-year university degree).

If they do, I could be accepted for a 15-week training programme (9 weeks of classroom training, 6 weeks placement at an IT company) to become a software tester. There's a 90% chance of getting a job at the end.

Well bad news. They weren't willing to consider my 2-years at university the equivalent of an HND. I'm so disappointed. :(
