QA Game Tester

Hello. I was once on Wrong Planet before years back, but I recently got back on because I would like to get in touch with folks who relate to my condition again.

With that said, the past few years have pretty much been an uphill battle for me. I have had the passion and desire to enter the Video Game Industry for years now in some capacity and I believe that I am capable of being a QA Game Tester for a company. The problem is, however, that I do not have the experience in this field. To make matters more complicated, I'm not in an economically feasible position to relocate to the headquarters of a game development company, and it has been hard for me to get info from companies on whether or not they allow game testers to work from home. I own a Sony Playstation 4, but it's not about just playing for fun on it. I am intending to be serious with a potential work schedule in beta testing.

Does anyone here know of any game development companies that do allow QA Game Testers to work from home temporarily?

I have plenty of experience in journalism, though. I'll probably talk more about that in another thread.

I would recommend that you apply for other QA jobs as well. Everyone wants to work in the game industry, so getting a job there with no experience is hard. I'm not saying you shouldn't try. But don't limit yourself to the gaming industry, At least not until you gain experience.

You say you have experience in journalism, why not write game reviews? There's bound to be sites that accept reviews from readers. Or you could create a blog with your own reviews.

Considering the situation I am in where I'd like to make the transition into a career in a field I'd like to be a part of, to gain that experience is the reason why I'd like to inquire of a temporary work-from-home position in beta testing. Everyone has to start somewhere, and some have started in more unique/unusual positions than others in any industry. I have already made a thread in the Video Games forum about 3 blogs I've contributed to. Soon I will edit that thread to put in the links.

I work under QA testers and and most big game company contract solution IT company to manage the "monkey testing" this is basicly a QA tester creating tests that we can carry out and record whilst the QA testers analyze the data we provide. due to testing games being a very sensitive subject i will find it really hard that any of the big company will want any copies of the game pre realse to fall into anyone outside the walls hands as it would present a huge security risk If you had an unreleased sony tittle you could sell it to Microsoft for a few mill just so Microsoft can rip the game of first. All big company will keep the testing in an inhouse office for maximum security we have to be frisked on entry and leaving the building we cant wear cloths with pockets and we cant bring in any form of electronic device.

I broke into this I saw an add in the local paper and used my beta testing experiences with mmos to my advantage. you can also get experiences for become a software or hardware tester for other company that could be local such as mobile phones or mobile apps.
