Is anyone interested in a writing career, an acting career, and/or job as a director?

I'm currently going to school for a BA in theatre. I prefer acting because when I am on stage performing, that is where I feel most in control of my Aspergers and theatre has really brought me out of my shell and has helped greatly in my communication skills. Acting is definitely what I want to do, but I wouldn't be against writing or even working in the shop on top of acting.

I love writing and think I might want to be a writer (of novels). I'm not sure if I want to do it full-time though. My other interest is in autism and other disabilities and mental illnesses, so I want to study that too.

I'm not sure if I can be a writer though. I don't seem to be able to stick with one idea long enough :D

All three.

I had aspirations of becoming an actor when I was a small child, and spent all of high school and college acting in stage productions and short films. I never thought about attempting it professionally because it's an oversaturated market...everyone in LA wants to be an actor. My heart lies in cheap, low-budget crap. Acting in a SyFy Channel original movie is my idea of hitting the "big time". I actually have a couple of friends who make a part-time living acting in low-budget horror films, so if I feel ready, I can hit them up for something. Additionally, I'm huge into voice acting and would love to one day make a demo reel to showcase, but I unfortunately lack the confidence to do so.

I've been writing since childhood and since high school I've written twelve complete screenplays and a handful of unfinished ones and treatments. Again, it's an overcrowded market and I don't really have anything groundbreaking to offer. All of my screenplays - at least the ones I'd attempt to market - are schlocky exploitation, so...I don't know what I'd do with them unless I had the right connections to a production company who specializes in independent cult films.

I'm not so certain about directing; I've seen directors work on set and I doubt I could manage all that work and stress for the entire duration of a production. If it was something that was super low-budget (we're talking, like, a crew of five or less), I could probably manage it...I recently bought a 1980s-era VHS camcorder and intend on writing/directing/producing my own independent horror film for under $500 in the exact vein as the shot-on-VHS indie horror films of the late 1980s. That kind of thing I can handle on my own, but I think I'd be better suited towards being a producer.

I thought I wanted to be a writer for awhile when I was a kid (mostly I wanted to be a marine biologist, but, I was so bad in school I assumed I'd never make it through the coursework), but, I could never finish anything I started writing.

Eventually, I made my way into a technical field... it's filled with brilliant people, but, most of them are horrible with communication, especially written communication. Voila. I'm a writer and editor. Easy to get started and to finish because you have a defined topic and a clear deadline.
I'll never get rich doing it, but, I find it satisfying, and it provides a little financial cushion on occasion.

Being a writer is great because it shows creativity and artistic skills. But be careful. Too many ideas can cause writer's block. The best way to cure it is to relax and let ideas flow. If you are still in school, English classes are a good advantage to start your writing. I hope this is helpful, because I am struggling to be in the writing world.

I answered director. Why? Because that is what I am. After studying films I started working has a P.A then into different assistant jobs and quickly made my first professional short film that got me later on the chance to make more short films and they allowed me to get jobs directing music videos and commercials. Working now on trying to make a new film and a feature.
What an uncommon job for someone with Aspeger's to have, because you are always dealing with people, directing actors, it's lots of stress and it means being social all the time. Well, my only answer is when you do something that you love and where your passion is somehow you can manage thing much easier, I have trouble even ordering in a restaurant but I'm very comfortable on my own sets. Also, Stanley Kubrick was an Aspie, so there you have it, it's not impossible.
