Found out my contract with my current job ends today.

My boss told me the reason why its over is because of finances and is no 'reflection' on me.

Do you think hes being honest or do you think by him even mentioning 'reflection' kind of means it is actually a reflection on me?

For all that you know, he's lying, but he's bound by what he told you and what's put down on paper.

Employers are unlikely to say something bad about a past worker if they don't have hard documentation to back their claim. Nowadays, most places will only confirm that you worked for them, the rate or pay and position you held.

Never speculate on the negative of why you lost a job. If anything, I will make up my own "truth" to explain why a job ended...if I can back it with some evidence.

I'm about to lose a job now. They said they wanted to make me permanent, but all their DEEDS since making that claim says they just wanted me to stick around until they were done with me. IF they kept me was going to hinge on my doing a lot more work than others had to in order to prove I was too valuable to let go.

When it ends, I'll tell prospective employers that it was a temporary job and they never put me into permanent status....When they no longer needed me, they let me go. This is adhering to the facts surrounding how I was hired and what did and did not happen during my time there.

Indeed, the last week, they cut my hours by over 1/2. I have today off. Work is piling up and nobody else is seeing that it's taken care of. In the USA, it's called "constructive discharge." The only reason I don't walk out is because it would be a voluntary quit and disqualify me for unemployment benefits. I'm keeping a daily journal of what happens at work so I don't have to rely on my memory of what did and didn't happen each day.

It's possible he's being honest. It's possible he doesn't want to hurt your feelings.

I'm sorry he didn't renew your contract. Let me emphasize: you were NOT fired.

Just keep plugging away while you search for a new position.
