The only one I could think of, off hand, is "Lou Grant," from the 1970s and 1980s.
Lou Grant used to be a "head honcho" at WJM in Minneapolis. He was played by Edward Asner, and the show was called "Mary Tyler Moore," which was a comedy.
Then, a spinoff called "Lou Grant" was created. The Lou Grand character moved to Los Angeles. The show became a serious drama.
