I didn't really think of this until my son's both got jobs through this one temp agency and when my older son got laid off at one they fixed him up with a better one. Neither of these places require any social skills. They got jobs through a temporary agency at a car plant. There are several places down here now where they build cars and car parts, and they work on an assembly line. They contract out the labor to the temp agency and hire guys on and the ones who show up for work and do their job well get hired on to the actual company after several months. They base it on attendance and doing your job. The job itself is fairly isolated. You stand there and work one part of the line. You wear earplugs and safety glasses and all that and you don't talk to anybody. You put in your 8 hours and go home. No politics, no BS.
I was thinking that other places have plants that manufacture things on assembly lines and they probably hire the way these places do. You look up temporary agencies in the phone book and call and ask if they place people on assembly line work. Then you go fill out the application and pee in a cup and they send you to orientation.
This new job my older son got will be longer hours, 12 hours a day 6 days a week but he wanted that. He will be bringing home about a grand a week with that job. So it's certainly doable. You don't socialize, you don't have to communicate with anybody during work, etc. If you want you can talk to other guys at lunch but some guys go out to their trucks for lunch. So, it's not great and it's not something you would want to do with your life, but it's money and something doable.
If you are looking all over for a job and can't find one, try a place like that. It can't hurt.
