I'm thinking of becoming a Math teacher.

For those of you with experience in this occupation, what do you think ? Is this a good occupation for someone with Asperger Syndrome ?

I think it would be a good profession for an Aspie--who is able to keep the class in control. And to know that each kid has a different learning style which you must adapt to.

Keeping the class in control is the most important thing; no learning goes on in an uncontrolled class.

I teach maths (and physics). It works well for me as I get to talk about one of my obsessions for most of the day and get paid for it. Just bear in mind that a classroom can be a difficult place to navigate if your social skills aren't great. I deal with this by teaching in a very small school and being very used to the individual students. I tried teaching in a larger school but couldn't deal with behaviour management effectively.

I'm a bit of a control freak so I know a bit about how to control people.

Girls at the back. Boys at the front. Separate friends. Detention for troublemakers.

I'm thinking about becoming a maths teacher too.

Problem: my degree is in Biology, and I'm not interested in teaching Biology in the slightest. Universities would only consider accepting me for a maths PGCE course if I studied a Bsc in a subject that's at least 50% maths related.

What can I do?
