Many of my colleagues are on facebook. But i have not dared to add them
I fear the worst and then they will see the side of my personality which they dont know
Also i dont have any friends on facebook neither i have added my cousins....so its a lonely
place for me...which my colleagues will come to know.

Have others added their colleagues on facebook?

Have you thought of micro-blogging on something like Twitter (with an anonymous account) instead? You may even get some followers if people find the updates relate-able or entertaining!

Im there too with my real pics writing some rubbish updates and following celebrities

A few ex-coworkers from previous jobs are friends. Then again, I'm careful to add actual friends, and I apparently am considered aloof-enough in general that those who aren't friends aren't surprised that I'm not very casual about whom I choose to add.

It sounds a bit like you aren't sure where you stand with your coworkers. Maybe give it time and see which ones actually seem to be interesting to you, and interested in turn.

I don't have anyone from work as my Facebook friend. I draw the line there. I have added a few who no longer work at the same company with me.

Adding my co-workers to facebook was a major mistake.
Adding some family members in my case was probably also a mistake.
Now I'm afraid to be myself.

I think un-friending people would draw more attention and possibly cause hard feelings, so I just leave them there. They never comment to me. Actually, I don't get many comments anyway.

Facebook isn't the right place for me because when I'm online, that is where I can get my thoughts out, but my views are atypical to the majority. Now I hardly use facebook.

I happily add each and every one of my co-workers.........

........

to my linkedin network.

If I were to get a friend invite from a co-worker on facebook, I would redirect them to connect on linkedin. Luckily since I dont really get close enough with anyone to be social outside of context (in other words, co-workers are friend who I socialize only with at work) for me to maintain that I want to keep my professional social network on the professional site.

if you are searching for other job or getting response from other companies via linked in then this can be dangerous to add present colleagues and you may never know when one of them would approach your seniors and tell them of your plans...........that way i feel FB is safer bet then linked in

Facebook is for your closes ones that know or have known you.
Linked-in is for your professional network.

Keep em separate, you do not want to let your boss know about your moodswings.

I have a lot of colleagues on Facebook. I even had Facebook-contact with them during non-workdays, for example during vacations.

Two of my Facebook-friends are my former bosses. My current boss has not a Facebook page. She just isn't interested in having it.
