As part of a plan I am doing for work, I had to meet with my bosses boss one on one. I usually get very nervous and timid in these situations but I am pleased to say that it went well: I was able to look him in the eye, portray strong body language and got the necessary support I sought after for my proposal! I was able to answer his objections and skepticism and was even able to politely and professionally disagree with him about a certain point, something I either over or under react to in similar situations.

There is hope for us Aspies after all. Dare I say I felt almost.... NT in my dealings with him? Hopefully things will work as planned but at the very least I can keep up with the best in my (large) organization.

Yep....Good things do, indeed, happen to smart people.

We need more stories of success here--rather than unrelenting failure.

I agree with Kraftiekortie, we need more success stories.

I believe and know that one can improve one's interpersonal skills to a high degree. What I think may be harder, for some of us, is to find that mellow zone we are growing and challenged, but not so much so that we crash. Career skills were not an issue for me, but exhaustion was.

Congrats on your meeting, GiantHockeyFan, and thanks for sharing.

Thank you for sharing a personal moment of triumph with us. It is inspiring, and I agree with BeaArthur and Kraftiekortie, that more of this kind of sharing is needed here.

Well done, GiantHockeyFan.

I agree, I want to hear more success stories! Maybe we need a specific forum for that.
