Has anyone quit a "permanent" job for a temporary one?

I'm contemplating quitting my current job for another job that pays more but will only be for 2-3 months.

I hate my current job, but I'm under the impression it's somewhat secure.

Good idea to take the temp job?

Realistically, I'd have to say no, it isn't a good idea, unless your financial situation is very good (lots of savings) and you have something else already lined up with certainty after the 3 months.

It always used to be said that you should have savings enough to live for 6 months between jobs; it's really more like a year now as the Second Great Depression drags on.

It's best not to, unless you can indeed live for a year without having any job (take rent, basic food and phone bills into acocunt).
If you hate your job, you can go search for a different one, but don't quit a secure job for a temporary one, that's a bad idea

I am in the same state as you and would strongly recommend against it to anyone. I am stuck in the Temp Trap unable to find a full time job because I have had too many temp jobs even though they have been in my field. I am 40 years old and have been told by recruiters & even job coaches that because of my Resume filled with all these short term jobs I am basically unemployable for anything other than temp work.
When I have gone on interviews the interviewer seems to be more concerned with "why have you been temping and unable to find a full time job" than the skills that I would bring to the organization..

I have the same experience in a different country. The problem is that once the interviewer starts looking to find out what's wrong with you, they generally find something.
