The last DORS meeting confirmed my feelings of them.

They really don't care for me. Even when my mother asked in concern, that if I got a low paying job, that it's possible that that's all the employers would see and what if I get stuck there and one of the head guys basically just said "Better than going hungry."

And also, that head guy, who I NEVER want to see in my life again, also said that, to be blunt, I'm terrible at interviews and that the only way I'll be able to get into jobs is via some inside way which would help me bypass the interview process, which, they said, that they had contacts, but I had to go with what they said.

They asked if I really wanted a job because I wasn't following all their suggestions (I thought I could pick some things or turn things down that I didn't think would either help me long term the best or would not work out long term.)

However, my Mom seems annoyed with them, but, my Dad appears to have taken their side. (He thinks I'm lazy, but doesn't realize all the effort I've spent already.)

I'm just wondering, is it just me, or have you had experiences with DORS that were just plain awful? I'm currently a blogger and I'd LOVE to give DORS some bad press.

I don't think DORS cares for me and if I get stuck in low wage jobs for the rest of my life, despite my Bachelors degree, it's no biggie to them, just off to another client.

However, I can't ditch DORS outright as my parents, especially my father now, will think I'm just being "lazy" and "uncooperative", so I need some other way to break with DORS.

I do 99.5% of the job searching myself, they really don't, despite what they claim, seem to have contacts much (if they did, why not suggest a job to me BEFORE it's posted so that I can get it ahead of the crowd?) They said they'd try something out with one company, but it seems that they've been in talks with them for OVER A YEAR.

Also, I know they are lying about being on top of things, because my job developer, whom I had mistaken for being a job coach, thought that using Snagajob was a good idea and kept suggesting it for a while (I fast learned it was just a junk site like Monster or Careerbuilder).

Also, she gets mad at me for not using all of these job sites, even though some of those I don't use are just powered by Indeed (which is the main one I use already!! !! !) and would just show the stuff Indeed already does.

And no, I don't want to register with this state job site which I can just see the jobs on there (and I think it also uses Indeed) and can just apply through Indeed or through the company itself rather than the site and all its annoying quirks (plus the junk mail of "suggested jobs" it was sending me.)

As for state jobs, which WOULD be a plus, they have halted on for about a year now. And they can't claim it's the state budget anymore because that got fixed.

Truthfully, if it weren't for the possibility of state jobs, I would have tried to find some way to ditch them already.

BTW, things are looking in my favor about standing up to DORS. Even my mother feels that they were basically blaming me for not being able to find anything in 2 or so years even though it was my disabilities that were getting in the way.

Also, my mother said that the night auditor job that they mentioned seemed possibly out of my scope and actually required experience (not much, but some) and I had none. And that hesitancy on the night auditor thing was what had DORS so upset. So maybe now Mom will finally see things my way.

We are considering now working with a Center of Independent Living as my mother has volunteered there for 15 years and I have helped out there some too.

Also, I think they had scheduled another meeting, without my mother, even though I had signed a signed consent form allowing her to be present. I think that was ANOTHER bad move on DORS's part.
