Hi:
As you know Air BNB allows people to open up their homes to people who travel versus staying in a hotel because it saves them a pile of money. Recently, they started a program where people can host their own experiences based on skills, knowledge and things that they own. People can do things like tours and workshops such as wine tasting. I am thinking that we have some really good skilled people on wrong planet who could make money doing things they love such as

1. Teaching art workshops
2. Perform concerts
3. Take them on special tours of areas they have lots of expertise in.

I am thinking this might be a good way for adults on the spectrum to get themselves out there job and career-wise.

Stay in a hotel. Safer and you aren't in people's way.

Dangerous. Don't do this.

No actually, I was referring to a new program that they have called "Experiences" where you have a special set of skills and you can get paid to use them. There are no accommodations necessarily. Examples:
1. If you have experiences in photography, you can hold a workshop on how to take photos and edit
2. You can do things like walking tours
3. If you have say a big van you can take a set of tourists around your city and do things like look at different types of artworks
4. If you are a musician, you can have a concert and charge money for that

You'll get men wanting to sleep with you for money.

I have not. I unfortunately have developed a phobia of staying in hotels, bed and breakfasts, etc. the older I've become. My fears specifically relate to either being bit by bedbugs or having roaches sneak into my luggage and end up taking them home. I know the likelihood of either thing happening is remote, but if either did happen, it would be a major upset and crisis for me.

Are any of you listening at all? This isn't about hosting an air BNB accomodations in your home but rather about earning some extra money by showing off your skills in other areas called "Experiences." Here is some information and it's a good opportunity to earn money, wield your skills, learn new skills and get yourself into a good job.

Here are some examples and I think that we on the spectrum should take advantage of this because it sounds neat.

Will you give me a good experience? ;-)

Seriously, it'll expose vulnerable people to pervs.

I hear people who travel air BNB all the time and love it and haven't had a problem.

In regards to the experience part, I am starting my own at a tea venue by teaching people who to use guided meditation and other mindfulness practices

You might look at the experience piece because I think it sounds neat.

They're men. Why would you want them?

Why are you so negative? Why in the world would I want men?
No, I just would like to teach people how to practice using mindfulness and guided meditation and make some money doing it. By the way, it would not be offered in my house but at a venue where they have loose leaf tea, spa music, and beautiful pictures.

Pervy men associate hospitality with code.

I hear what you are saying, summer_twilight, but I wonder whether there is any advantage to doing this through AirBNB Experiences instead of a local community rec program, etc. How much of a cut does AirBNB take? Anybody can teach anything any time; whether it's profitable is another matter.

I also think people who have social difficulties (i.e., autistics) may have a hard time being successful at this. Remember that services like AirBNB, Uber, etc., rely on user reviews. Can you be sufficiently charming to get good reviews for the "experience" you provide?

I use airbnb a lot as a customer. I have to travel for my work and it is much nicer staying in a home or small apartment or cabin than it is in a large sterile hotel. It has always been clean, safe and friendly. The peer reviews pretty much clue you in as to where it is safe and that hosts are welcoming.

I think you have a great idea, summer_twilight. From my own experience, I would recommend getting some business counseling from SCORE (free), a business plan, and figure out why people should come to your mindfulness experience rather than someone else's. What makes your experience special?
