I found the position I'm most interested in posted on LinkedIn after looking for it. I found out it was posted 68 days ago... Seems kinda long ago to me. They said I got my application in on time ago though so I hope it's true. When applying for this job, the application can be conneced to LinkedIn and on their site it says "12 people have applied" so is that kinda a low amount? I did message on LinkedIn my previous boss from my old internship that still works for the non-profit to see what he can do, am I doing the right things?

I asked another question and I got the reply that HR would know that then I asked how to contact HR and then they said suddenly HR can't answer individual questions and will contact me directly if needed so I got the impression this person was asking someone else what to say to me but at least they went as far as confiming for me they got my application, lol.

Good Luck with it :D Even if you don't get it, for what it's worth, it's good you tried & it sounds to me like your doing everything you can the rite way.

I realized LinkedIn showed me the profile of someone already hired at an almost identical job... Compairing resumes he had one year more total experience at hire but unlike me nothing specifically about birds. Similar level of education as me.

But seriously a full time/permanent job at a non profit how long should I wait to hear if they are going to interview? I've been waiting two weeks now.

What is the alternative to waiting - withdrawing your application?

Wait as long as it takes, but DON'T hold off on applying for other jobs. And if you have an offer on another job, take it - a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. As a bird lover, you should know this! :)

Yes, I've been applying to other ones too. I just am very impatient.

I'm hearing from a few today... two jobs I was slightly interested in rejected me, while one job I only really applied to because it was close to my house asked me more questions. Nothing heard so far from the ones I really want to hear from, but it's kinda funny today they started talking at least.

A lot of people go on vacation during the summer (for instance, parents of school-age children) which can sometimes introduce a delay in hiring activities.

I checked back on the bird job I really want and they took it off their website (you can no longer apply) so is the right assumption they hired someone already, or that they got enough applications and maybe I'll hear from them for an interview soon? Here's hoping it's option 2.
