I am more discouraged now than ever. I've had a few jobs I applied for reject me. Now I also need to find a new place to live which confuses things. My husband is going to get disability too, which means a part time job might work to make a little extra money and keep our benefits. Because we have to move I want to broaden my search, but actually the local job I applied to said this morning they are delayed so I don't know if I have to stay in this general area. Also another job I applied to extended their application deadline.

I haven't heard from them yet. I did apply to a new one a couple days ago that might give me a chance because I had an internship with them several years ago... They still might remember me who knows.

I found another good local job but I seem a bit overqualified for it, but I have the right background. It asks for someone with a high school diploma with experience teaching kids and I have a bachelor's with experience teaching kids. It's also only part time but I can do that because of our benefits. The job announcement says they will start looking at applications immediately so I might hear back early for them.

You are doing a lot of things right! But with so many unknowns, anyone would get overwhelmed.

I suggest doing something to relax. Can you watch a movie or go for a walk?

Don't worry Bea, things have calmed down for now. That job I just applied for through indeed, that website has informed me they already looked at my application. The job involves classroom science shows, I did something similar in the past so this one might actually call me. Pay is low, 20hrs week at 10 dollars an hour but that is okay because a job like that I can have with our disability money. The other one I already intervewed with pays more however, but is temporary. But the other one says you get pay raises from the starting 10 dollars an hour and it sounds like it lasts longer. Hmmm? If I had a choice which one is the better deal?

Wait until you DO have a choice, and then ask me. ;)

Another local job I just didn't plain hear from again and I just assumed they hired someone else I subscribed to their Facebook page soon after applying. They posted on their page today they were delayed and people can still apply for it by next Friday. I sent an email saying I'm still interested. It's the same exact AmeriCorps 4-H job I had an interview for already, just in the neighboring county instead. Since during the interview I already had the job explained to me if the other county interviews no surprises there!

I copied this straight out of an AmeriCorps position description:

• Qualified individuals with disabilities and those from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. We provide reasonable accommodation for qualified individuals and conduct all activities in full accessible settings.

Basically this is for a position working with birds of prey. I had two jobs working with birds of prey in the past, and I even almost got hired at a zoo doing this. My last AmeriCorps position failed due to physical problems, does the above statement sound like they would understand my problem? I did explain my employment gap and failure of the last job in my application.

It sounds like they will accommodate disabilities much more than most jobs. Where is this job located.

If it’s anywhere near you, apply for it.

Is it a permanent job?

Sounds good. I’m excited for you working with birds of prey. That must be very rewarding. :)

It's an AmeriCorps one year position in Boise and when I was applying it seemed familiar... Turns out I applied to it one year ago! I checked my email, they even interviewed me and I remember the interview because it was Skype and back then I didn't have internet at home so I did the interview from my car at a place with a good 4G signal lol. They ended it with an email saying they appreciated my skills but they found someone that was a better fit. I realized I sent them this year a very similar application. Will they interview again or say we already rejected her once?

They emailed me back saying I applied a bit too late, they just hired someone. Oh well.
