I think Aaron Clarey nailed this one and right off the start described the kind of 'boomers' I had my first internship with (and the kinds of people who lead me to run away from accounting and toward programming).
Fair warning, he's brusk, but I think he lays down pretty well what the difference should be of effort between employer and employee with getting a new trainee up to speed (and for clarification - without disability considered). It goes to show what a mess and social climber's circus things have become that it needs to be said this way.
