I got past the phone interview for a company, which came as a major surprise to me. The job required more of an inorganic chemistry skillset, when I have a rather focused biochemistry skillset, so I was surprised that my application made it past the first round of interviews. I'm going to have to spend the week brushing up on inorganic chemistry, reading up on the company, and practicing for the interview.
Still, the news is quite welcome, I had been feeling depressed over not meeting my initial goal of not having a job within 6 months of job searching, so now I have a little more motivation and less depression than before.
Hopefully, I will get the job, but since there's no guarantee I will continue applying for jobs outside of my field while keeping an eye out for the next opportunity.
