The UofM job.... The first few months, I would be working from home, but I wonder if I would need to move at all... I'm about an hour from Ann Arbor and an hour and a half from Detroit where part of the job is too... Is that reasonable?

I’m sorry the grad school option fell through. Commenting long distances is possible, but time and energy consuming.

Have you done a ton of freeway driving in Metro Detroit?

Right now the roads are all torn up, and under construction. I have doctor's appointments at U of M (A2). It's a hour there. I have a 40 min drive into downtown Detroit proper.

You need a really good car because the pot holes are brutal right now.

Ann Arbor is a PITA to get around. It's a university town with little surface parking. You might be better off driving you car, parking it in a park and ride, then taking the Ann Arbor public bus to get to the university.
There are two types of drivers in A2. Aggressive and the clueless. I hate driving there! You'll have someone riding your ass, while the clown in front of you tries to parallel park.

Travel to Detroit is either the Autobahn or a parking lot. It gets sh***y around Southfield/Livonia and can crawl all the way downtown from there. That is no fun M-F

I have relatives that live in Grand Haven, and they HATE drive down here. They tell me the drivers are insane. Just not used to hoards of people trying to go 90 mphs. Lol

My only concern is the beating your car would take driving on the s**t roads here. I have a 2008 car, and I would almost pass on that job if it was 9-5, M-F. It's just a lousy commute. The pay has to be enough to justify your car getting abused.

I know you've been looking for work. If you can eat the cost of the car upkeep, it might be worth.

When I did work 9-5 in Ann Arbor, I wasn't worth s**t at home. Rush hour commutes just killed me.

I understand why you would take it. Maybe you'll be WFH with one a month in person check? That would be
sweet.
