I know the feeling.

I'm a field service technician for the same company since 2004 and I've been recently informed that my current position will expire within three months due to merging contracts and outsourcing (blame India!)

In my opinion: certifications are only worth the paper they're printed on. I've got them, but that's just because my employer required them.

Meaning: I am out looking for work and/or going back to school.

You seem to have the skills in the IT field. A lot of companies are looking for Cisco Networking backgrounds in my neck of the woods - maybe this is the case in Michigan?

Good luck and hang in there :)
