Hi yall,
I have been offered a position as Amsoil Dealer/Salesman.Amsoil is a synthetic motor oil.I think its prolly a MLM.I dont want to get involved with a MLM but its one of the only ways I can make money since I cant work at conventional jobs.I heard MLMs are scams. However I heard Amsoil is more legit than your typical MLM.I heard it started as maybe part of Amway.

I know Amway is a scam but desperate times call for desperate measures sometimes.I looked at the figures and very few dealers for Amsoil make enough from their business to live the American Dream but I guess a little bit of money is better than no money.I dont want to do it but my parents want me to and think it would be good for me.I think if its a MLM I dont want to do it but I have already made 1 to 2 dollars from it.Do yall think I should be Amsoil salesman.

Man it always seems like your family is trying to take advantage of you, like you should do what you want to do Idk just seems the way your family treats you is unfortunate and unfair and unpleasant So I wish you had a way to break away from them and do your own thing. Idk It' maybe easier for a poorer person like me cause I have no inheritance to worry about losing or whatever if I piss off my family, like I was never going to get anything from them anyways. So whats it matter if I get to no speaking terms with some of them.

I would not say they are trying to take advantage of me in this case.I think their hearts are in the right place on this one.My mom thinks my uncle is doing well as a side hustle with his Amsoil dealership. My uncle knows I am struggling job wise and he just wants to give me a chance. However I am skeptical because its a MLM possibly so I dont know.

Ya I have enough money in my parents trust fund/my retirement account to buy a 200,000 dollar home in a flyover state or small town with cash but it would destroy my retirement and I would not be saving anymore money for retirement so its a no-go.

I guess I could live on social security and have roomies and I got free government healthcare so I would be set. However I need someone to take care of me.I am set to inherit 3 to 5 plus million when my parents pass so I dont want to make them too mad.I have enough cash to buy a home in cash but I cant qualify for a mortgage so its either paying with cash or having parents buy me one.I live in Texas but Texas is no longer affordable so I may go to Oklahoma or Arkansas or Arizona or New Mexico until my folks pass but I bet I will just live with my folks until they die or I get married.

I advise against participating in ANY Multi-Level Marketing  scam  scheme.

Every one I've experienced -- whether on the inside or the outside -- is some variation on the old
Ponzi Scheme  -- "a form of fraud that lures investors and pays profits to earlier investors with funds from more recent investors."

Without getting into specifics about whether Amsoil is MLM, whether all MLMs are scams, etc. as an autistic person there's a fundamental thing about them that makes them unsuitable for me.

In order to make any money, they require you to do networking, i.e. talk to people, meet new people, get those people to introduce you to more new people, and then sell them stuff (whether it's the products themselves, or just marketing materials to your downline). I'd be overwhelmed within about a quarter of an hour.

Our families are well-meaning (we hope). 'We only want what's best for you'. Actually they have never had any better idea of what that might be than we do, especially if they're NT and we're ND. I am guessing that they're keen for you to make money of your own.

I can't work in a lot of conventional jobs either. Too many people, too much noise, too much multi-tasking. I was lucky enough to blunder into non-people-facing tech, which just happens to be perfect for me. I've been doing it for the last 40 years.

My suggestion: have a look at strengths and weaknesses, what you're good at or would like to be good at. The Parachute book is a really good place to start ('What Colo(u)r Is Your Parachute?' by Richard N. Bolles).

Good luck.
