i dont know how anyone can stand working at a computer. I find them incredibly overstimulating. I work for 40 hours per week at a computer and I feel like I am going to go mad. I think it is abnormal to expect someone to just sit here for hours without breaks. the other people here in the office dont even take breaks, they will sit there for hours and hours at a time.

back in the stone age there were no computers to sit for 40 hours at... or maybe i am just poorly built for computer work. Visually I am extremely sensitive and i find even looking at some colours these days make my eyes lock into them, expecially reds and yellows.. I also have a poor attention span and low boredom threshold.

i just feel very depressed about work and i honestly would love it if I never had to work again. I would like to find a less visual, less tasking, occupation but i wouldnt know where to start.

I'm totally the opposite - I get sucked into computers :). When I lived with my folks, I used to frequently have 12-hr+ stints, with very brief stops for a meal or two (if I remembered).

They're not stressful to deal with (for me), which is something I really like. They do what I ask and act predictably! I use them all day at work (programmer), though I do have a decent break (30min+) to have lunch with the rest of the people working here.
