Hi
Could someone with aspergers apply for SSI. Im only 17 and havent had a job yet. Im not saying i want to have SSI but say 5 years from now and i have trouble with jobs would i be able to apply for SSI?

Too make my life suck more is that i was diagnosed with alpha 1 anti trypsin so i wont see age 40. I also have to be real careful where i am too as scents of candles, aerosols, smoke,ETC make my life shorter.

yeah you can, i'm on ssd,

most people who have aspergers also have co-morpid condition of depression, anxiety, ptsd. and a evalation of other related stuff such as schizophrenia, agoraphobia, and other conditions. best thing to do is get your IEP from school and talk to an expert in adhd and ocd and add. and try to get those other conditions, aspergers alone won't get you on ssd. but if you can get the other conditions on a evaluation or paperwork, you may have a chance. and if you have that other condition and wont' see age 40. you should easily get on ssd.

seaweasel, oh so if you dont have a iep, only thing i can suggest is get a evaluation from a expert. or perhaps prove that parents had a condition.
