I work at a coffee shop. A big chain one in fact, you know the one with the green aprons. I just recieved a promotion to a supervisor and I'm worried about my ability to be on 100 percent all the time. I have been doing great for months, but I had a rough day today. I couldn't really get my head clear and I was having problems looking at customers. I am usually very bubbly at work, a bit odd maybe, but the customers love my energy. I'm very good at the bar(making drinks) and I'm very organized with a lot of other tasks. Usually drinking coffee helps me be on, but I had tons of coffee today and nothing helped. I screwed up drinks, I rang incorrectly and it was sooooo hard to connect with customers. I think lack of sleep might have been part of it, but I won't always get the sleep I need to work. How can I be a good supervisor with this issue. I need to prove myself, I want to work at the corporate level in coffee quality. I am very adept with my sense of taste and I think it would be a great career. I need to become a store manager, and probibly even a district manager before this is even an option. I'm saying all this because I want to know if anyone out there has a job supervising others, and if anybody has any ideas to help deal with/prevent days that are major flare ups.

you're new to the position it's ok to have a little trouble jumpig up. You wouldn't have gotten the promotion if you were'nt deemed capapble. You'll get the knack of it!

Wow, being promoted to a supervisor! Congratulations!

Be confident, make sure you know the work and keep a open mind. I'm sure you'll do fine.

Take things one day at a time.
