I am a 21 year old college student looking for an internship in or around the New York City area. My major is Marketing and would like a career having to do with that but am flexible as well. Does anyone have any ideas for places to look into and ones that would be comfortable to work at as well.

You should check out the books in your career/reference section of your college library...there are books that show specific companies that offer internships and business opportunities throughout the USA, not just New York City.

Often a representative from various companies will come to colleges and universities looking for students interested in internships with their firms. That's how my nephew who is a freshman at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York got offered a
summer internship beginning in May, 2008 with the Raytheon Company in Massachusetts. He will be working on the Patriot Missile Project...and he will only have one year of college at Cornell when he starts his internship. When the company representative for Raytheon was at Cornell University a few weeks ago, many graduating students approached him asking about potential internships...and as my nephew, who is a freshman Engineering Major walked by, the company representative announced, "Here comes one of our summer interns right now!"

Your best bet is to contact the company you are interested in working for as an intern directly.

Good luck!
