When I started working my current job about 7 years ago, we were in a quiet part of the floor with very few distractions. I could concentrate on my job, had a decent amount of privacy and was pretty much left to my own devices. This did not really change much when we moved to our new building last year (in fact, we were in an even MORE remote part of the floor).

In January, they moved us into the trading room. Gone are the illusionary comforts of my cubice half-walls, the sole phone line, the peace and quiet. I now working shoulder to shoulder with my team leader, who is a very nice guy, BTW, and I have no real beef with him. He has managed to put up with my mood swings somehow. Our phones resemble small switchboards. Whenever my phone rings, I have to glance to see if it is for us or the traders. And the traders' phones right CONSTANTLY. So I have no real chance to "go away" and really pound out the work as I would prefer. Plus, the traders are a bunch of overage repressed fratboys who can be extremely obnoxious. Our workload since being moved to this room has probably quadrupled, we have been shorthanded since December, and have been working 10-12 hours a day. Now, granted, I'm making a decent amount of money, and got one hell of a nice bonus, but after 3 months of this, I'm ready to frakking kill somebody.

Okay, I have now completed my self-absorbed, selfish rant for the evening. We return to your regular browsing.
