software, working at home
I'm wanting to expand my software company (ianford dot com) to have a few autistic/asperger subcontractors, and am currently negotiating with a marketer about bringing in more work. I've already used a spectrum artist for 2 projects.
For anyone out there who is a programmer, I need at least one soon for a project lasting through September, and may need more. This would be working at home, your own hours, everything specified unambiguously through email. (You must be experienced in c#/web, not entry level. Send resume to software at ianford dot com)
I've also considered setting up a "school" or mentoring shop for programmers with less experience (even teens), but getting real projects and using them as teaching case studies to learn how to write requirements, architecture principles, and so on. Do you think this is practical and possible?
Ian, I wrote a blog post on your efforts (http://asdjobsink.blogspot.com/2011/07/autism-customized-employment-model.html) after seeing your post here and over on the GRASP Yahoo group.
Thanks Meow! Marketing and networking are (as you might expect) the biggest challenges for me, so your help in networking is appreciated. I think we need to be open to different ways of networking that work for is. In the end we still have to know people to get anything done, but it doesn't have to LOOK like the NT kind of networking.
