So, I've been trying to think of what my career goals might be, and I'm having a hell of a time with it. Most of my interests and talents are in areas that are super-competitive (while I'm so type-B it hurts) and rely heavily on networking and self-starting (other things I'm not very good at). There's always the option of taking whatever job is offered to me no matter what it is, but money doesn't motivate me enough to do that. I have a very strong aversion to doing anything that I think is "pointless"-- I think it's an Aspie thing for me. That's why I have a really hard time considering jobs that seem to be going nowhere towards my goals (which at this point are the vague "help people and be creative").
During my job search, I've come to the idea that I'd like to have a job helping people on the spectrum, or other "disabled" people. But, I'm having trouble finding jobs like this. I have a BA, and I've been seriously burned by school twice in the past 2 years, so I'm not exactly raring to go back. I think something like vocational rehabilitation might be a good thing for me. For instance, this job[link], Benefits Coordinator, would be an ideal job for me. One of the things I like about it is that you have to identify as someone with a disability. I've looked for other jobs like this, but to no avail. Has anyone ever heard of other jobs with that requirement? Is anyone in this field? I have so little knowledge of the employment world that it's hard for me to come up with new ideas. Much obliged,
